If you wish to be considered for Obihiro University’s Recommendation for the MEXT scholarship, please read through the Application Guide carefully. Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (OUAVM) is permitted to nominate a maximum of two applicants to MEXT.

<IMPORTANT NOTE>
- This page is intended exclusively for applicants who have received a provisional acceptance from a supervisor at OUAVM and are being recommended by the university for the MEXT Scholarship.
- Priority will be given to applicants from universities that have an academic exchange agreement with OUAVM.
- When submitting the Digital Media File, be sure to copy (CC) to your prospective academic supervisor.
- Before making any inquiries, please carefully review the Application Guide and Checklist for Application Documents. Please note that it will take 2-3 business days to respond to inquiries after they have been reviewed.
- OUAVM is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as from December 26th to January 4th.
<SECURITY EXPORT CONTROL REGULATION>
In order to comply with Japan’s Security Export Control Regulation, OUAVM is required to prepare the documents in accordance with applicable laws. Your prospective supervisor will ask you to submit a “Pledge” and “Confirmation Letter” bearing your signature. Please carefully review these documents and prepare them for signing.

| Early March, 2026 |
OUAVM will select 2 nominees and will inform applicants of the results of its internal screening. OUAVM will recommend 2 students to MEXT under the University Recommendation scheme. |
| Mid-June, 2026 |
MEXT will notify OUAVM of the scholarship results. OUAVM will inform applicants of their selection results. |
| Sep-Oct, 2026 | The scholar will travel to Japan on a date designated by OUAVM. |
| October 1, 2026 | The Fall semester begins, and scholars will start their studies at OUAVM as a Research Students. |
