Professor Noboru Inoue of the Plasmodium Research Centre received the Outstanding Researcher Award and was presented with the certificate by Dr. D. Battogokh, Director of Ministry of Education and Science, Department of Science, Technology Policy, Innovation Development and Coordination of Policy Implementation of Mongolia.
Professor Inoue, in collaboration with the Institute of Veterinary Medicine (IVM) and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Mongolian University of Life Sciences, has been conducting epidemiological research on blood protozoan parasites and protozoan diseases in domestic animals in Mongolia through several international collaborative research programs such as the JICA/AMED SATREPS project (2013 – 2018). As a result, the endemic situation of protozoan parasites and protozoan diseases in domestic animals in Mongolia were revealed, and the control measures against these diseases were developed and introduced, as well as for the numerous scientific papers it has published through projects and training of young researchers. In addition, in order to carry out the research more than 20 research equipment were installed in laboratories in IVM, dramatically improving the research environment and technical capabilities, and making real contributions to the education and training of veterinary researchers.
The “A Leading Scientist Award in Mongolia” has a history of more than 50 years and is presented annually to researchers who have contributed to the development and improvement of science in Mongolia.
