On Thursday, October 29, the university concluded a partnership agreement with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (hereinafter, NTT EAST).
The university’s expertise and high-level research environment in the fields of agriculture and livestock industries will thus be integrated with information and communications technology (ICT) of NTT EAST. The ensuing promotion of education and research on sustainable “smart” agriculture and livestock practices, once practically implemented, will contribute to the ultimate aim of advancing the agriculture and livestock industries and boost the economy.
Based on the agreement, ICT will be introduced in OUAVM’s agricultural and livestock experimental fields. Comprehensive data on all the aspects from grassland management, feed management/planning, cattle herding, to food processing/sales, so-called, “Farm to Table” processes will be collected, tabulated and analyzed in the course of joint research on “smart” farming methods, in order to strengthen the research base and train human resources skilled in ICT in the agriculture and livestock fields. Collaboration with corporations will also be promoted to practically apply the research results obtained in the experimental field widely in society.
