Ms. Anni Nurliani (Indonesia), a third-year student in the doctoral program in collaboration with the United Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences, Gifu University, (Instructor of OUAVM: Professor Motoki Sasaki), was awarded the Best Data Visualization Award at the 6th Sapporo Summer Symposium for One Health (SaSSOH 2018) on Thursday, September 20 and Friday, September 21.
SaSSOH is an international symposium where young researchers and PhD students give oral and poster presentations. Ms. Nurliani made a presentation titled “Morphological Studies on the Reproductive Organs of the Female Sunda Porcupine (Hystrix javanica)” and was selected to receive the Best Data Visualization Award out of 75 posters.
She studied the morphology of the female reproductive organs, which include the ovaries, uterine tubes, uterus and vagina, of Sunda Porcupine (Hystrix javanica) by means of histological, macroscopic anatomical and micromorphological analysis. In addition, cells for steroid hormone production and action were analyzed by immunohistochemistry. This study revealed the morphology of the reproductive organs of the female Sunda Porcupine (Hystrix javanica) and sex steroid hormone action, which has never before been revealed.
Ms. Nurliani expressed how happy she was to receive the award, saying, “I am deeply honored to receive this award. I would also like to thank the members of the SaSSOH 2018 organizing committee, who were involved in the selection process, and Professor Motoki Sasaki, who has instructed me. This award encourages me to continue pursuing my research.”
