About us
WOAH expert for bovine babesiosis
We are an WOAH reference laboratory for bovine babesiosis since 2007. Our laboratory is located in the National Research Center for Protozoan Diseases of Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Japan. The head of this laboratory, Prof. Naoaki Yokoyama, is currently an WOAH expert for this disease.
Our reference laboratory is involved in various activities aimed at controlling bovine babesiosis. We conduct epidemiological surveys of bovine babesiosis in collaboration with other institutions in various countries. We provide expert advice to WOAH member countries and create awareness of bovine babesiosis by organising and attending academic seminars. Importantly, we produce future scientists through internship, short-term, and postgraduate training programs.
We obtained ISO/IEC 17025 standard for the diagnosis of bovine babesiosis in 2017.
