WOAH reference laboratory for equine piroplasmosis

Opportunities available for WOAH member countries

Research collaboration

A survey of equine piroplasmosis in horses in Mongolia

We are open for research collaboration for surveillance, risk factor analysis, and designing control measures in WOAH member countries.
At present, we are conducting surveillance of equine piroplasmosis in Mongolia, Paraguay, Kyrgyzstan, India, and Sri Lanka in collaboration with local institutes.

Internship, short-term training, and postgraduate studies

Internship presentation by Dr. ThankGod E. Onyche from Nigeria

Opportunities are available for interns and short-term trainees from WOAH member countries. The training is provided free of charge, but the trainees may be asked to cover the travelling and living cost, subject to the availability of funds. We are also accepting international postgraduate students to pursue research on equine piroplasmosis. Our research interest focuses mainly on diagnosis, epidemiology, and drug discovery.

Expert advice

We provide expert advice on diagnosis (protocols, interpretation of test results etc.), surveillance, and risk analysis.

Academic seminars

The WOAH expert for equine piroplasmosis may attend the academic seminars and give lecture on equine piroplasmosis, if an invitation is extended.

WOAH Laboratory Twinning Program

Dr. Sanjay kumar, a senior scientist at NRCE, was giving a presentation in a workshop held under twinning program.

The objective of “Laboratory Twinning Program” funded by OIE is to improve the capacity and scientific expertise of institutes that are potential candidates for future reference centres. In the recent past, we successfully concluded a Laboratory Twinning Program with National Research Centre on Equines (NRCE), India.
