Dr. Noboru Inoue (Executive vice president) and Dr. Keisuke Suganuma (Concurrent, GAMRC) visited to the OIE headquarter, Paris, France on 29th, June for the participation on the 4th Annual Meeting for OIE Non tsetse transmitted animal trypanosomeoses (NTTAT) network. The OIE is the intergovernmental organisation responsible for improving animal health worldwide and has a total of 182 member countries. OIE designated scientists as OIE experts (reference laboratories). The OIE experts (reference laboratories) research the animal disease and revise the Terrestrial Animal Health Code and the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals for promotion of animal health in the world. NTTAT are surra and dourine: surra is caused by mechanical transmission of Trypanosoma evansi by blood sucking insects in many animals and dourine is caused by sexual transmission of T. equiperdum in Equidae. These diseases are listed as international important diseases for domestic animals by OIE. The NTTAT network meeting is annually held to share the research results for NTTAT and to revise the Terrestrial Animal Health Code and the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals of NTTAT. We participated and discussed about the manual revision for surra and dourine as OIE reference laboratory experts for surra.
