Online tick dissection training

23 Mar 2022

On March 17, 2022, online training was conducted for the staff of the Research Center for Tropical Diseases and Vector Control (RTC) Lab at Makerere University, Uganda. This time, with the training theme of “Tick dissection”, Assoc. Prof. Rika Umemiya-Shirafuji gave a brief lecture first and then gave an explanation while “live” dissection in the laboratory of NRCPD. It was the first attempt to dissect ticks (female Haemaphysalis ticks) while sharing the screen with Zoom using the camera attached to the stereomicroscope. It was a very meaningful opportunity for both universities. In the future, we will have such an opportunity of “Tick Dissection II” as the next online training.
