Special seminar by Dr. Consuelo Almazán

NewsReport

On February 6, 2024, Dr. Consuelo Almazán (Autonomous University of Queretaro, Mexico) gave a talk on “Tick Research in Mexico: Advances and Future Perspectives” at PK Hall in NRCPD. She showed the most important ticks and tick-borne pathogens that affect domestic animals in Mexico, with a special focus on the cattle tick Rhipicephalus microplus, vector of Babesia bigemina, B. bovis, and Anaplasma marginale. Her talk about research on tick vaccine development was very informative for the audience. A total of 18 including students, post-doctors, and researchers attended the seminar. We had active discussions and had a fruitful time during the seminar. A part regarding Haemaphysalis longicornis ticks of her research topic is supported by a Cooperative Research Grant from NRCPD.
