Report ③ from Dr. Goto stay in UW-Madison

September 1, 2017

Four months have passed since Dr. Goto started his collaborative research project to find the genetic loci underlying phenotypic variation in livestock animals using genome information at UW-Madison. In addition to fine research facilities, the area around University housing has a wide variety of wild animals such as wild turkeys. He is happy to be able to work in such beautiful natural surroundings.

From August 2017, he started to work with Professor Guilherme Rosa in the Animal Breeding and Genetics group to examine the causal phenotype networks for egg traits in chickens. By attending the daily coffee break and casual parties at colleagues’ homes he has had a wonderful opportunity to get to know others in the group. He feels he has created a base for long-term collaborative research and hopes to continue strengthening these relationships in the future.
