Dr. Rakotondrafara from the Department of Plant Pathology, UW-Madison visited Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in August 2017 for discussions on research and pedagogy. During her stay we had the 5th GAMRC special seminar titled “The link between RNA sequence, translation and plant viral resistance” and the 6th GAMRC special seminar titled “The how and why of active learning”. She also conducted an active learning style lesson for undergraduate students in a plant pathology course. In addition to these events, she had meetings to discuss research collaboration regarding the control of plant virus diseases with the faculty of the Department of Agriculture, GAMRC.
