I was listed as an author in a paper that I did not read; against my will.
The paper is Tropical Agricultural Research Vol. 22 (1): 12-25 (2010) (Abstract) , published in Tropical Agricultural Research (TAR), and the first author is Chalinda Beneragama who had studied as a Ph.D. student in my lab during 2007-2010.
I got noticed the paper on Jan 15, 2011 because it appeared on the Internet; I had not read the manuscript, and therefore, nor permitted him to have submitted it to a journal. He did it without letting me notice anything, although the entire experimental work in the paper was carried out here under my supervising. A few days later, I asked the editor Dr. Terrence Madhujith of TAR to distract retract the paper. However, the editor has not done so.
In this May (2011), the Vice President Dr. Kanayama of our university asked Dr. Beneragama (who visited our university those days) to remove my name from the author list of the paper. However, he has not done so.
On Oct 18, I again asked Dr. Madhujith to remove my name from the author list. Although deleting the paper is the best for me, I could not but have compromised to lower my request. But, he has not done so nor responded anything until today (Dec 20).
So, I cannot but let all the relevant scientists and students know my real relevance to the paper.
Please don't consider me as the co-author of this paper. I'm not resposible for the paper at all nor agree with some of the major conclusions of the paper.
I hope the paper will be distracted retracted from TAR.
