畜産における温室効果ガスの抑制と利用に関する国際会議（GGAA）

第1回GGAA(2001)
2001年11月7日〜11日の5日間、帯広市とかちプラザを会場に「第1回畜産における温室効果ガスの制御と利用に関する国際会議」(The 1st International Conference on GREENHOUSE GASES AND ANIMAL AGRICULTURE,GGAA2001)が開催された。
本国際会議は、帯広畜産大学教授高橋潤一が会長、オーストラリア・クイーンズランド大学教授ブルースヤングが副会長を勤め、帯広畜産大学（梅津一孝事務局長）を中心とした、国内の大学、研究機関及び民間組織からなる実行委員会が主催した。
本国際会議では、畜産に関わる温室効果ガスの中で、とくにメタンを重要と位置づけた。その制御技術とバイオマスエネルギーとしての積極的な利用技術について世界の研究者、技術者が協力して討議し、その成果を地球環境保全に資すると共に循環型社会の形成に寄与することを目的とした。
本会議は、特別講演、口頭発表、ポスターセッションより構成された。
同時に現地見学会および関係団体および民間企業が参加する「循環型農業見本市inとかち」が開催された。 また現地見学会と同一日に一般市民、農業者を対象とした「畜産における自然エネルギーとかちフォーラム」を開催した。

The 1st GGAA 2001
The 1st International Conference on GREENHOUSE GASES AND ANIMAL AGRICULTURE, GGAA2001 was held at Tokach Plaza, Obihiro in November 7-11, 2001.
The International Conference on GREENHOUSE GASES AND ANIMAL AGRICULTURE was chaired by Prof. Junichi Takahashi、Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine as President and Prof. Bruce A. Young, The University of Queensland hosted by the organizing committee consisted of Universites centered on Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (Secretary General, Dr. Kazutaka Umetsu), National Research Stations, and private organizations.
In the conference methane was noted as an especially important greenhouse gas attributed to animal agriculture. Scientists and engineers in the world discussed about cooperation for the technologies of abatement and positive use of methane as a biomass energy. Consequently, it aimed to contribute to the global environment conservation and the establishment of sustainable societies.
The conference was composed of special lecture as the plenary session, oral presentations, and poster sessions. "Sustainable agriculture trade fair in Tokachi" was held concurrently to encourage the private companies and the related groups to be participating GGAA. Additionally, "Tokachi forum on natural energy in animal agriculture" intended for civilian and farmers was held at the same time.
