Message from the President








President
Dr. Hideyuki Nagasawa


 The basic policy of our university is to contribute to the local communities and international society through human resource training in the advancement of food safety. We are able to utilize the fields in and around the campus for experimenting and implementing leading-edge fundamental and applied research related to veterinary medicine, agriculture, and animal husbandry. This is where we are at our strongest. Making the best use of this advantageous educational and research environment, our university promotes education and research in the following fields: utilization of biotechnology such as genetic engineering at the molecular level of organisms, utilization of animals and plants at an individual level, food production and processing, nutrition and function of food, crop rotation, and utilization of biomass energy. We are the only university in Japan that has established “the preservation of food safety” as one of its core principles and objectives, and we think it is our mission to utilize outcomes for contributing to the establishment of environmentally-friendly and sustainable agriculture that is recognized throughout the world.
